    A tenure-track position at FPSE shall be appointed either as Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenure-track), for three years in the first term, followed by two years of reappointment and an additional two years of reappointment, for a total of up to seven years.As a general rule, the interim review shall be carried out in the second semester of the third year (sixth semester) following the appointment and completed within the first three-year term on the tenure track. When a tenure-track faculty member passes the interim review, the first reappointment of two years shall be confirmed before the end of the initial appointment (three years).By default, the final review shall be carried out in the second semester of the fifth year (tenth semester) and completed by the end of the fifth year on the tenure track. When the tenure-track faculty member passes the final review, the faculty member will become a tenured faculty member from the following semester. The second reappointment of two years may be granted to a tenure-track faculty member who fails the final review. The tenure-track faculty member may request an interim review or a final review at any time in or after the second semester of the second year (fourth semester) following appointment.

    If maternity and/or parental leave is taken before the end of the interim or final review, the period of the tenure-track faculty member may be extended by a period equivalent to the maternity and/or parental leave, subject to the approval of the University, provided that the total period of continuous service does not exceed 10 years.

    If you have had an employment contract with Waseda University (regardless of job title) since April 1, 2013, and there is no period of at least six months without an employment contract with Waseda University at the scheduled start of this position, in principle, there is a limit to the duration of the employment contract. Therefore, the above may not be applied.

The School of Media and Journalism at Kent State University invites applicants for Director of Student Media. We seek a visionary leader with the background and experience to position our award-winning operation for a new, multi-platform era.

The Director is charged with providing functional oversight of advertising, marketing, distribution, finance, and personnel, advising student content leaders and serving as a liaison to the Student Media Board. The Director oversees professional and student staff in Student Media, reports to the Director of the School of Media and Journalism, and serves on the School’s Faculty Advisory Committee.

Kent State Student Media is in the early stages of executing a cutting-edge strategic plan that emphasizes audience engagement across new and emerging distribution mediums, including social media, streaming video, streaming audio, and podcasts, while retaining ties to legacy newspaper, magazine, radio, and TV platforms. The plan is designed to enable Student Media to provide the best possible service to the university community, industry-standard training for students in a variety of media fields and protect the independent content decisions of students.

The Director will serve as the adviser to student leaders and staff for the university’s digital media brand, repositioning it as the primary distribution medium for student-produced content. The successful candidate will help select and coordinate efforts with advisers across all Student Media units, ensuring all students have access to professional mentoring and advising.

In addition, the Director:

  • Serves as a non-voting member of the Student Media Board.
  • Works collaboratively with student leaders to execute the Student Media strategic plan and updates key constituencies with a report on progress each semester.
  • Works with the Director of the School of Media and Journalism and faculty to enhance and create co-curricular opportunities that align with the School’s Strategic Plan.
  • Through the office staff, provides support services to Student Media units.
  • Manages revenue and expenses; recommends and/or approves investments and equipment purchases; ensures the proper use and maintenance of all Student Media equipment.
  • Serves as the public face of Student Media and cultivates positive relations with the university, community, and media industry leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field and have a minimum of five years’ experience in a professional or college/university media organization. Key competencies include leadership, digital media, and financial management experience. Our preferred qualifications include an advanced degree as well as experience with one or more of the following disciplines: Digital media production, electronic newsgathering/broadcast journalism, audience development, newswriting, still photography and design.

Other desired skills and abilities include:

  • A keen understanding of market and audience trends facing media companies.
  • Experience mentoring students.
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications and digital content management systems.
  • An understanding of relevant state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication with the ability to adjust to students, university and external constituents.

LECTURER IN DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCTION

SUMMARY:

The Department of Journalism & Creative Media Industries (JCMI) within the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University is seeking a Lecturer with broad expertise in digital media production who can help meet core departmental teaching needs in production-related courses across our Journalism and Creative Media Industries programs.

Our department offers undergraduate degrees in both Journalism and Creative Media Industries, with a core set of digital media production skills that correspond to both degrees, along with focused production-related courses within each degree program.  The ideal candidate possesses experience and skills in digital media production and could immediately contribute to our departmental core across both majors as well as other more unique components of our distinct Journalism and Creative Media Industries curricula.  Successful candidates must have demonstrated strengths and professional experience in digital media production, including some combination of, but not limited to, video/digital cinema or film, post-production, studio- or field-based video production, multimedia journalism, digital news production, photography, audio, interactive multimedia, web design, and/or digital games.

The position of Lecturer is a full-time, 9-month, annually renewable non-tenure track position with the possibility for continuing appointment after five years.  The anticipated start date is September 1, 2024, with faculty-on-duty date in mid-August.  The position’s overall duties are allocated between teaching (80%) and service (20%) to the department, college, or university.  This distribution equates to a standard teaching load of four organized courses per semester, with potential opportunities to teach additional courses during summer or intersession semesters for additional compensation.  Teaching assignments may include both face-to-face and online courses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have either completed a master’s degree in a Media & Communication (or discipline relevant to the position) or have earned at least 18 graduate credit hours in the area by the date of the appointment.  Candidates with outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the digital media production field may also be eligible and encouraged to apply.

At least three years non-teaching work experience in some combination of the aforementioned areas of digital media production is required.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one or more departments or schools in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs (GCUA) in the area Ethnic and Equity Studies with an emphasis in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI-B). This position requires a Ph.D. in the social or behavioral sciences from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). A record of teaching experience and some evidence of teaching effectiveness, community engagement, and scholarly publications is preferred, as well as the ability to demonstrate potential for external funding. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Faculty rank will be dependent upon education and experience as outlined below:
